Servitisation to deploy energy efficient heating for buildings in the Netherlands (in English)

On 8 February 2022 EIT InnoEnergy organised the webinar ‘Servitisation of heating for efficient Dutch buildings’. With guest speakers from consultancy Delta EE and legal energy market specialists from HVG Law, the Heat-as-a-Service business model was highlighted from various angles, especially relevant for Dutch market parties interested in offering heat as a service to non-residential real estate.

Session 1: Perspectives on legal issues

The first session was presented by guest speakers Jacqueline Feld, Attorney at Law / Senior Manager Energy & Utilities HVG Law and Sander Simonetti, Attorney at Law / Partner Energy & Utilities at Habraken Rutten Advocaten.

Jacqueline and Sander dived into legal aspects such as securing ownership on installation under Dutch law, the Dutch Heat Act (Warmtewet), and a new legislation: Dutch Collective Heat Supply Act. Following the presentation, a Q&A was conducted.

Session 2: Perspectives on the business models

The second session was presented by Lindsay Sugden, Head of Heat at Delta-EE.

Lindsay introduced consultancy Delta-EE, and covered topics such as decarbonising heat in buildings, defining Heat-as-a-Service and why it is important, current HaaS market & examples, and provided an outlook. Following the presentation, a Q&A was covered.
